In June, fan favorite Michael Latta was non-tendered by the Washington Capitals. A week later, the former Caps roomie landed in Los Angeles on a one-way, one-year deal worth $600.
On Monday, the Kings put Latta on waivers with the intention to send him down to the American Hockey League’s Ontario Reign.
Bob McKenzie was the first to report the news.

According to the LA Kings Insider, Latta could not differentiate himself from other forwards during the preseason.
Latta was caught up in a numbers game amidst a glut of similarly equipped and tenured forwards. He was a slightly longer shot to make the team than others, based on off-season correspondence.
The Kings also put defenseman Rob Scuderi on waivers as well.
Meanwhile in Toronto, long-time former Capital Brooks Laich cleared waivers but will stay with the Leafs for now. Laich can now be sent down to the AHL at any time.
Laich said "nothing changes," "business as usual" post-waivers. Understands business side. Had good day w/ teammates at Jays game regardless

Despite clearing waivers, Brooks Laich is one of 15 forwards remaining with #leafs. Greening on his way to AHL. Prust still on a PTO.

Lamoriello says a couple Leafs are nursing injuries … Laich could step in if someone can't play on Wed in Ottawa

#Leafs cut to 25….Soshnikov, Greening, Froese and Campbell. Laich not sent down. TOR needs to make moves on two more to get to 23.
