Predators forward Filip Forsberg scored the 100th goal of his NHL career Tuesday night. But that wasn’t the only milestone he accomplished with the tally.
According to Capitals Radio’s Ben Raby, Forsberg’s second period goal was his sixth goal in seven career games against the team that drafted and later traded him. Forsberg’s six goals now equal the same amount of tallies Martin Erat and Michael Latta, the two players he was traded for, scored for Washington in a combined 175 games.
The trade was already considered a flop, but these numbers are staggering.

Forsberg’s go-ahead goal came after consecutive tallies by TJ Oshie and Alex Chaisson tied the game. After being denied by Braden Holtby on an initial shot, Forsberg curled around the net and fired again. Forsberg’s attempt appeared to hit Brooks Orpik’s skate and redirected past Braden Holtby’s outstretched skate.
Forsberg had a big smirk on the bench and for good reason.
In 281 career NHL games, Forsberg has 100 goals. He played in his first Stanley Cup final last season.
Meanwhile Erat scored twice in 62 career games with the Caps while Latta, a checking-line forward, lit the lamp four times in 113 games.
Latta has not played a single game in the NHL since leaving Washington while Erat played one year with Arizona before leaving for the KHL.
In early 2015, George McPhee, the man who made the deal, said he wished he could have a mulligan.
“I think [Forsberg] has played well,” McPhee said. “Obviously he’s one of the leading candidates for the Calder Trophy. If you’re asking if I would like to do a do-over? Yeah, sure.”

Meanwhile, Predators GM David Poile tried to talk Martin Erat out of his trade demand “for basically two or three weeks” before he ultimately made the deal.
Forsberg is the second-fastest player to score 100 goals for the Predators at 281 games. Jason Arnott reached 100 in 247 games. https://t.co/X9icna6bEJ
