The same day Andre Burakovsky got a new deal with the Capitals, former roommate Michael Latta inked one of his own with the Arizona Coyotes.

Latta’s deal, according to CapFriendly, is a one-year, two-way contract that will pay him the league minimum ($650,000).

Last season, Latta spent the beginning of the season with the AHL Ontario Reign after signing a one-year, two-way contract with the Los Angeles Kings. Latta was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks organization midseason, and spent the remaining time with their AHL affiliate, the Rockford IceHogs. Between the two teams, Latta registered 22 points (5 goals, 17 assist) with 128 penalty minutes in 61 games. He had the “A” on his jersey near the end of the season with the IceHogs.

Before he heads out west, Latta spent his Fourth of July working out… I think.

Joined by Hershey Bears forward Christian Thomas, the two shook their heads and kept their core steady to get a propeller to spin. Thomas seemed to get a hang of the trick earlier, continuously spinning it around, while Latta lost the rhythm multiple times.

Bears’ Garrett Mitchell commented on the video, commenting with multiple laughing emoji.

Latta joins a Coyotes organization mid-rebuild. With only 10 forwards currently active on their NHL roster, the checking-line forward has a chance of making the NHL team during the 2017-18 season.

Pretty excited to sign w Arizona today, can't wait for the season to start and have summer all year around.
